festive st. patrick’s day accessories
Every time March rolls around, I notice stores stock the craziest, most outrageous St. Patrick’s Day accessories. I remember my first St Patties day parade in NYC, I was in my early twenties and I couldn’t wait. I had no idea what I was about to experience. Hoards and hoards, did I mention hoards of green drunken people everywhere, stomping anywhere and everywhere without any regards as to who or what was around them.
I couldn’t wait to get far away from the parade. Not sure if I ever mentioned that I am not the tallest person in the world but being a mere 5’4”, made me realize how petite (good alternative word, right?) I really was. It made me feel very claustrophobic; I couldn’t see beyond my person and it was a bit intimidating. I swore, never again.
Don't get me wrong I do love St Pattie Day and all the fun that goes with especially Irish Soda bread smothered in butter.
I have noticed that every St. Patrick’s Day, people seem to go all out; - green body paint, crazy hats and sun glasses and more! If you love St. Patrick’s Day and want to stand out this holiday, it’s a must that you check out these festive St. Patrick’s Day accessories!
Green Body Paint
This is definitely one of the most common St. Patrick’s Day accessories. Using green body paint as an accessory can really take your outfit over the top, especially if you decide to paint more than just a shamrock on your cheek. Try painting your entire face green for a crazy St. Patrick’s Day look! Or if you’re really adventurous, your entire body green. Just think of the girl painted all gold in the James Bond movie “Goldfinger”. Get really creative and paint yourself the colors of the Irish flag. Just make sure that you use the right kind of body paint that washes off fairly easily. You don’t want to have to go to work with a tint green on your skin. Your boss will surely think you’re still a bit hung-over from St Patties.
Vehicle Costumes
Decorate your car for St. Patrick’s Day is a great way to show the holiday spirit! It is similar to decorating your car to look like a reindeer for the Christmas season, or like the folks with a VW Beetle that make their cars look like bugs. These costumes turn your car into one, large St. Patrick’s Day accessory! It’s easier than ever now since they make these great paint markers specifically for cars. Show off your Irish pride in the biggest fashion possible by decorating your vehicle with tons of green and St. Patrick’s Day décor!
Full Body Costumes
Dressing yourself up in St. Patrick’s Day garb may sound fairly tame, but putting on a whole costume is over the top and definitely festive! If you’re looking to celebrate the holiday in the craziest way possible, purchasing a full body costume is the way to go! You can even dress up as a leprechaun! I must admit I do love the men in their kilts!
Beer Mug Hats
Hats that look like beer mugs are all the rage right now. So if you’re a closet beer mug hat wearer this is the time to pull it out of storage. Why not wear your love for beer this holiday? The bigger the better! These types of hats are perfect for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations!
Head Boppers
Similar to hats, these head boppers are simply head bands with bobbling shamrocks or something holiday appropriate on the top. I love these because you can wear one and be festive while not really messing-up you hair. They’re the perfect St. Patrick’s Day hair accessory which won’t break your bank to purchase a pair. .
Green Wigs
If you’re fond of wigs, then this is the holiday for you! Grab yourself a green-colored one and mosey on down to your local Irish Pub. Not only will you feel the St. Patrick’s Day spirit, but you’ll look the part too! Combine your wig with a head bopper and you have the perfect look!
Shamrock Slotted Sunglasses
The last accessory on my list is the ever coveted shamrock slotted sunglasses. These sunglasses are not your typical pair of shades. No, they’re larger than normal sunglasses and shamrock shaped, so they’ll definitely help you stand out from the crowd or hide your blood shot eyes.
These are only a few suggestions but, basically, anything green, or anything with shamrocks on it can be construed festive. Combining multiple accessories can also give you a crazy over the top St. Patrick’s Day, woo hoo!!!

For me , the only thing that seems to work is my trip to weightwatchers - I have tried numerous diets over the years - Jenny Craig, Nutri System, etc and have now come to the conclusion that weightwatchers is the most realistic since it forces me to eat and account for everyday real food. Every piece of advice in your blog makes sense but very few of us can live by all that good advice - We know it's right but can't help ourselves. Everytime I lose that 10 to 20 lbs, I think i know the answer so why does the weight always creep back on - What stops us from repeating the same old bad habits ???
That's great that you found a strategy that works for you. However I think you are selling yourself short and that for me Weight Watchers falls into the category of”Hire A Pro." Their strategies to help people must work for most otherwise they wouldn't be so successful. As I mentioned in one of my first blogs women are so critical of themselves in all aspects of their life and largely on physical appearance. Remember to be kind to yourself, talk positively to and about yourself and more importantly accept yourself. And then you will start believing those things. No one looks the way they do in magazines not even the stars. It's all smoke and mirrors or retouching. Thanks for always sharing your thoughts on my blogs. I appreciate it. Glad you're reading!

I have not liked "whatever" since the 80's because it seems like the lazy persons way to not use the specific words for something. When someone uses that word with me, I actually fee insulted.

Hello!
I was glad to see a new column, since it's been awhile. I talked my husband into telling his female barber to leave his brows alone, last time he got his hair cut! The time before she had shaved the top of them, to thin them out, and I didn't like it.
